Even if I desperately need to study, or even if I need to catch up with friends, I always dedicate every Saturday to my family.
Last week, my sister Richelle needed to go to the Homestead Museum in Industry for an interview on Saturday morning. She's going to be a tour guide there every once in a while, so I'm kind of excited to take a tour when she's working there :) We all got dressed up, explored the museum, ate sandwiches for lunch, and enjoyed our Saturday together.

(I also baked macaroons for the first time later that night, they were pretty stinkin good bakerella in tha housseeee)

I am a huge fan of ModCloth, but sometimes it's hard to browse when you're living on a college student's budget! The only way I can keep shopping on ModCloth is through their Cabin Fever sale and their contests, so I've entered their newest contest. It's really the easiest thing-- you style a dress on Polyvore using accessories and clothes from Modcloth, come up with a witty board name, submit it, and hope that you win! Prior to this contest, I've never used Polyvore before, but it is super addicting and fun-- I think I might post some of my boards on here from time to time.

Last Sunday was Vibe XVII. During high school, I was really into the hip hop dance scene, but slowly grew out of it when I knew that I'd never be able to dance like any of my favorite crews. I mean, I can do a pretty mean cabbage patch and running man, but I don't think those dances go very well with hip hop.

When the chance to go to this year's Vibe came up, I started watching some old dance videos from my sophomore year. Then I came across this video from when I danced in an assembly during my senior year:

And I was reminded of how fun dance can be, no matter how good, silly, or even how bad you may think you look.

So on the day of Vibe, Ryssa, Michael (who I had just met that day but turned out to be super ridiculously chill), and I met at school and headed out to Irvine. I ran into some friends, saw some familiar faces, geeked out over the dancers I loved back in high school, witnessed a proposal (!!!!!), and sat in the front row.

After Vibe, we ate at Guppy's in Rowland and headed home. The three of us are supposed to take a dance class together sometime soon, so I guess I have to start working on my moves and my swag, because you know, hip hop dance is probably like 40% swag and 60% dance ability. (you think it's time to bust out my Nike collection?)

Hands down one of the best nights I've had in a while. I can't wait to get back into the dance scene again.

LACMA

Our studio project for this quarter is to design and curate a museum on a site in Pasadena, so a lot of us have been going to a lot of museums to "study" and find inspiration. (Last quarter our project was a surf and lifeguard headquarters on San Clemente beach, so I spent a lot of time going to beaches.) About a week ago, I went to LACMA with a couple of studio friends to explore and people watch.

(I finally got to see my favorite Lichtenstein piece in person!!!!)

We spent the day confusing security guards, sketching, looking for new books, contemplating our designs, geeking out over the Eames exhibit, freaking out over pretty 50's dresses (well.. I was the only one freaking out), and eating kimchi quesadillas from a food truck. School is really cool sometimes :)

lately, i've been trying to read one novel a week.

i've read 4 lovely novels in the past couple of weeks and i honestly can't stop reading. i've always loved reading, but i hardly ever have time to read leisurely, so i've been planning things better to make more time to read.

now that i'm reading frequently, i'm also much more inspired to write. not songs and short poems like i usually do, but stories and essays. so far i've written a couple of pieces that i'm sort of excited about.

i'm no Shakespeare when it comes to words, nor am i the best with grammar (did i just use 2 negatives in the same sentence or is this an exception?), but i think writing has become a new hobby of mine. and i already feel like i'm becoming a much better writer with every new idea that i translate into words.

Lately I've been trying to update my wardrobe. I've been stocking up on shirt-dresses that can be worn on their own, blouses that can be worn under sweaters and dresses, as well as a lot of prep-inspired basics. Throughout the fall quarter and winter break I thrifted several vintage pieces that I'm extremely proud of!

We had a girls' night out before Miya left for Georgia. We caught up over food at BJ's and spontaneously ended up at the Griffith Observatory. The fact that this view is a 45 minute drive away from home is one of the main reasons why I love living in Southern California.

It was a good night.

I always complain about allnighters and how homework and projects just seem to pile on, but I've realized that I never talk about how cool being an architecture major can be. Every quarter, a couple of the best projects from every studio class are chosen to be exhibited in our IDC, which is where all 2nd-5th year architecture students have their studio classes. I invited Diana to the exhibit and it was pretty exciting to show her what school is like for me. These are just a few photos of my favorite projects from the exhibit:

This year we tried to add some pizzazz to New Year's day (which is usually a boring holiday) by going to Huntington Beach. We tied our cruisers down, packed some sandwiches, and headed to the beach.

Richelle, Aliezza, and I biked for hours, enjoying the beautiful weather, beautiful scenery, and cute puppies. Richelle also found another toy sailboat to add to her collection! It was a good day.

I've been avoiding Blogspot because personally I think that Tumblr is much cleaner and organized, but posting pictures is very limited on there, so I gave in and decided to start posting on here. It is the new year and I finally have a small camera of my own, so I'm determined to update as much as possible! Well anyway, I turned 20 on Tuesday. My little sister Hanna received a pottery wheel for Christmas, so she made me this clay cupcake earring jar as a present. The lid doesn't fit at all, which is hilarious, but really stinkin cute haha. I celebrated by going to Roscoe's for lunch with Diana, my sisters, and my cousin Aliezza. After, we headed over to Old Town Pasadena and shopped. Diana got me the prettiest orange purse and the Cults record as birthday presents!

On Thursday, my mom threw me a birthday party, so I invited a few friends and a lot of family members, some of whom I haven't seen since my debut 2 years ago, so it was nice to see my family together again.
