June + Instagram

At the end of every month, a lot of my favorite bloggers post a collection of their favorite Instagram pictures from that month. I try to take my point and shoot with me everywhere I go, but sometimes I get lazy and end up Instagramming (that's a verb now, right?) instead. So I've decided to start a monthly Instagram post. I think that it's a really neat way to look back on all of the cool (or not so cool) things you did during that month.

weekend away from home, favorite b-side, last presentation of the school year, yellow pants and a new rug, first car wash in months, first swim of the summer, trs show with my sister, ikea date, Ever's end of the year excitement

Dwell on Design

The first two weeks of my summer in a nutshell: awesome naps, weird sunburn, embarrassing 'disoriented' texts, good hangs, jam sessions, good reads, and really good food.

On Friday, my friend Ever and I attended the Dwell on Design conference at the LA Convention Center.  The conference was free for students, and I've missed hanging out with my best friend from school, so it was bound to happen.  There were several events happening around the Convention Center (preparation for the X-games, Nike dunk contests), so we people-watched after the convention for a little bit until the wind started picking up and my skirt started flying up Marilyn Monroe style and had to leave.  We then proceeded to eat salads and sandwiches at a "cafe" that actually turned out to be a Mexican liquor store that sold salads and sandwiches. (hey at least they didn't skimp on the feta in my Greek salad...) Well anyways, here are some of the pictures from the conference! (this post is extremely image-heavy!)

we'll meet again sometime soon.

I'm officially on summer break. I'm terrible at goodbyes, so it has been really hard saying goodbye to some of my friends from school. And it still feels pretty strange not having anything to worry about, but I know that these feelings will fade soon.

I started summer by seeing The Rocket Summer, The Scene Aesthetic, and States at the Glasshouse in Pomona.  The Rocket Summer has always been one of my favorite bands, and the last time I saw Bryce play, he asked somebody from the crowd to play guitar and help him end his set.. and that somebody ended up being me. So I knew I had to see him again, because he never fails to put on a good show.

So I didn't get to play guitar for Bryce this time, but I was standing against the barricade during his set and I was the happiest little puppy. After the show, I bought a couple of records and ran into Andrew. The first time I met Andrew was when I was 13 or 14, back when The Scene Aesthetic was playing small venues during their first tour. And I've been seeing them ever since then. It's always nice running into him, and this time was no exception.

The next day I visited my high school to congratulate some of my friends who were graduating. I ended up running into old high school friends and I was just really happy to see everybody together again. :)

The first few days of summer have been really good to me. I had to say goodbye to a lot of my friends, but I also had the chance to reunite with a lot of old friends.

I can already tell that this summer is going to be one of the best I've ever had. :0)

the month of May.

The month of May was the busiest month I've had all year, hence my absence from this blog.

During the first week of May, a couple of friends and I went to the Aquarium of the Pacific so we could work on our final presentation on the aquarium.

The weeks following my trip to the aquarium were uneventful and extremely stressful, until the weekend before my architecture final.  Ryssa and I road tripped down to her hometown in San Diego and vowed not to talk about school for a day. And so we did. We met up with our friend Michael, went thrifting for a little bit, ATE THE BEST CALIFORNIA BURRITOS I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE, and went to Body Rock. I had my camera with me the entire day and actually took some photos... buuuuutttt my SD card wasn't working correctly, so I lost most of the pictures I took during the day. EVEN the one of my perfect burrito.  After Body Rock, we got dessert at Extraordinary Desserts and it was unreal. And extraordinary. And my chocolate lava cake had gold dust on it. likewtf I'm happy with a normal lava cake, but they put gold on it!! It was so good.

I slept over at Ryssa's for the night, but had to take the train home the next morning so I could finish all of my work for architecture finals.  I wish I could have stayed much longer, but I still had a fun, relaxing weekend with some really good friends.

As soon as I got home, I locked myself in my room for 3 days straight trying to finish my final architecture project.  I managed to finish 12 hours before my presentation time, so I treated myself to a full night of sleep and an extremely easy-going morning.

My crit went fairly well, so over the next couple of days, I rewarded myself with some quality time with my best friend and my family.
